Sick. I'm sick yet again. Ugh. I had an awesome post planned for today, but I just didn't have the energy to follow through with it.  You'll have to wait until later this week.

Instead, I thought I'd give you an update on what I've been reading and watching!

Books

Last update I gave you I had just started reading The Husband's Secret by Liane Moriarty. This was a pretty darn good book!  I loved how there was three separate stories and in the end they all came together in a crazy way. Also, the secret was not what I was expecting which made it even better.

After I finished that I moved on to Matched by Allie Condie.  I had heard this book was a lot like the Hunger Games series so I thought I would give it a try. Basically, in Cassia's (the main character) futuristic society people are matched with their husband/wife.  There is a big ceremony and your match is presented. After Cassia's match is presented, the screen flashes to yet another match.  The book is all about what happens after that.  I honestly didn't love this book.  I had high hopes for it, but I was a little bored. There are two more books in the series, but I probably won't be reading them.

Right now I am actually reading two books, which I have never done before.  I got a brand new Kindle (the paperwhite which has a built in backlight) so I of course wanted to read a new book on that!  I chose The Fault in Our Stars by John Green . I am only a chapter in, so I don't have much to report.  I do love the Kindle Paperwhite though, It's amazing!

On the same day I got my Kindle, the paperback version of a book from my favorite author, Jen Lancaster came out. When I first started purchasing her books, before I truly fell in love with her writing, I bought the books in paperback version.  Now I feel like I have to buy them all that way. Problem is, the paperback version doesn't come out until like a year after the hardback version does!  It's so tough waiting.  So obviously, when Here I Go Again came out, I had to get it and read it right away. I am maybe a third done now.  Right now, its probably my least favorite book by her. She usually writes memoirs, which are seriously hilarious, but this is a novel.  It's not bad by any means, but the subject isn't my favorite and I just like her memoirs better!

I did decide I am going to take part in Bon's Book Club this year, so soon I will be reading through her list.  I already read January's book (the Husband's Secret) so I have free reign this month :) I am not sure on February's book (I Am Malala). It just doesn't sound appealing to me.  Has anybody read it?!?

TV

Um. The Bachelor. Yeah.  I love this show.  I know its cheesy, lame, fake and many other terrible things, but I just can't stop watching.  I actually really don't like the Bachelor this season either (Juan Pablo) but I just can't stop watching it. I feel like he is a bit of a womanizer in hiding.  Clearly the rest of America doesn't agree with me though, because he is loved by many! I dislike his accent and I dislike all those silly puns they keep using like Juan-uary. Do you watch this show?  Please talk all thing Bachelor with me!!! I need someone to discuss it with!

We've also started a new show called Sherlock.  There are only 5 episodes and it starts again at the end of January so C and I thought we'd try it.  I really like it!  It is from the BBC network, so it's a bit different than American shows, but its really creative!

We also tried Downton Abbey and made it through like 30 minutes and gave up. Way too boring! Does anybody watch this? Does it get a lot better?

So that's it!  What books and TV shows are you loving right now?!?

  1. Ok with The Bachelor thing, I watched Sean Lowe's season and quit halfway through because I was literally so bored. Every episode was the same thing. I started watching it because I wanted to be able to talk Bachelor with the rest of blogland, but I just couldn't finish. So needless to say, I didn't tune in for Des's season of The Bachelorette, and I don't even know who Juan Pablo is =( . Did you watch Sean's season? Am I missing anything more exciting or is it still the usual?

  2. I read one of Jen Lancaster's book and really enjoyed it but for some reason have never read any others by her-- I'll make sure to avoid Here I go again though!

I looove Sherlock as well! I'm so excited for the new season next week! Did you start with the first season of Downton? I think the first episode might have been a bit slow but it's amazing- I think it's definitely worth trying again :)

I hope you're feeling better soon!
