Currently

I haven’t done one of these in a while so I thought I would catch you up!

First up….books!

Last time I did one of these posts I told you I had just finished Glass Castle by Jeanette Walls and was about to start Inferno by Dan Brown. Well, I have moved way past both of those!  I really didn’t like Glass Castle.  Based on what I had heard I had expected differently, but alas, I felt it was really boring! I seriously could not wait to finish it so I could start something better.  Inferno was really good.  I love Dan Brown books because there is so much information in them, so much history. The story was great and had tons of twists which I love.

Next up I read Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn.  If you remember, she is the author who wrote Gone Girl, which I thought was fantastic.  I was hoping her other books would be just as good, so I bought them both on my Kindle.  I have to say, I didn’t like this one as much.  It was just….weird.  Really weird.  I guess it was a good story overall, but just odd.

Finally, I am about three chapters in to The Husbands Secret by Liane Moriarty and I am definitely intrigued.  The first chapter totally drew me in and now I am trying to make sense of the characters.  It’s currently three separate stories (meaning separate families/characters) and I can’t wait to see how they all intertwine. Has anyone read this?

Any good suggestions for my next book?  If I don’t hear anything intriguing, I think I am going to read a Lauren Conrad book next.  I know it’s cheesy….but I just love her books. Perfect escape :)

Next….TV

After catching up from our vacation we have started watching more Mad Men.  We are on the last disk of season two.  I like it….but sometimes it can be really dry and boring! It’s kind of crazy how it’s the same drab tone throughout the whole show.  Interesting things can happen, but it still feels boring somehow!  I will give this another disk or two. I hope it picks back up.
I want to let you all in on another show that is my new guilty pleasure…Millionaire Matchmaker!  I randomly watched an episode of this and I was hooked.  I am so intrigued by the whole process; I think its crazy weird. It’s like a train wreck you can’t look away from.  I currently have 23 episodes of my DVR for when I want to just veg out. Has anyone else seen this show?!?

Now onto….C

C got a job!!!! Yay!!!! I am so excited.  It’s been hard this off-season because he was injured and they were making him do physical therapy every day, which makes it really difficult to get a job. Plus, we share a car right now.  Does NOT help things! They finally stopped his therapy (way too early in my opinion, but that’s a story for another day) so he was able to get a job. I can’t wait for him to start making some extra moola J

That’s all folks!

Anything interesting going on in your life?

  1. I loved The Husband's Secret. It was crazy and reminded me that people can always surprise you- not always in a good way! And I felt the same way as you about Sharp Objects- her other books are all much more twisted than Gone Girl (which is probably why that one went so mainstream).

  6. Mad Men will get better. It's a roller coaster series in terms of being interested vs. being boring :)

  8. Sharp Objects was pretty crazy. But I was still hooked and Dark Places is pretty weird too. But I like books that suck me in and when I stop reading 3 hours have gone by.
