Throwback Thursday - My first one!

Hello all!  So I decided that this week I would finally participate in Throwback Thursday!

I am going to ease into this, so I thought I'd throw up some pictures of my dancing days in highschool.

The first is me as a pommie.  We were definitely NOT cheerleaders and we made sure everyone knew it! Our school had both....we danced on the sidelines at football games and at half time of football and basketball games.  I have such fond memories of this.
I can't believe how tiny I was!  I wasn't even aware....

This is me as Cinderella in the senior ballet program.  I still remember when the instructor was handing out the parts and there were two left....Cinderella and the ugly step mother.  As people realized there were only two dancers left, me and another, they all automatically started commenting that I must have gotten the part of the stepmother.  Then the teacher annouced that there would be two Cinderellas/Stepmothers.  We would each play the major part one night and then the minor part the other.  It still hurts to think that all of my classmates all assumed I wasn't good enough for the main part.   But you know what?  I danced a darn good

I can't believe how tiny I was!  I wasn't even aware....

If only I could get back to that itty bitty size now!

Guns Blazin'

Have you ever been driving and another car drives up directly next to you (going at the same speed) so you can see the other driver across your windows?  Does this freak anybody else out?
Confession:  I have a completely irrational fear that anytime somebody drives up next to me like that they are going to……pull out a gun and shoot me. Most likely in the head.
I have absolutely no clue why I am afraid this will happen.  I don’t live in a city of crime.  I think I’ve seen a gun out in public maybe three times in my life.  I’ve never even heard of this happening in real life!
But yet, every time a car drives up next to me going the same speed, I flinch.
Does anyone else have any crazy irrational fears like that??

Love Day

(Sorry!  I totally thought I posted this's a bit late!)

So this Valentine’s Day was the first one for C and I.  I didn’t want to make a huge deal of it and we are pretty low on money so we decided to stay in and have fondue, which is my favorite meal. He loves it too, which is pretty awesome.

We just put peanut oil in the pot and cook chicken and broccoli in it.  Growing up my family did steak and mushrooms too, but C and I decided we really preferred the first two things, so why waste the others?  We also cut out the cheese sauce my family used and strictly went with sour cream.  Mmm….sour cream.  Yum.  Doesn’t everything taste better with sour cream?
For desert we used the chocolate fondue set we got in a white elephant gift exchange over Christmas.  We just simply dipped bananas and strawberries in the chocolate.  Perfection.

As for gifts, I got my pinterest on.   I made him a man bouquet with scratcher lottery tickets and mini liquor bottles.  I was quite proud of it and he loved it.  He got me some beautiful flowers and really meaningful card.  Also, he cleaned the tub.  I had been asking him to do it for a few weeks so I was really excited about that.  It’s the little things.

I realized that now that I am in a happy relationship and really in love my view on the holiday has changed.  I used to dream of it as a kid/teenager and imagine that it was all about chocolates and flowers and hearts and sparkles and lovey dovey romantical type things.  What I learned this year though, was that it doesn’t have to be that way.  I don’t need a certain day to tell C that I love him and prove it by being gushy.  All of those things felt almost silly because I know that we truly love each other!

Don’t get me wrong though, I still love the holiday and I fully intend to embrace it every year. I just know now that I don’t need or want to expect much from it. Being with C is enough J
(P.S. – Yes, there is a rubber duck in some of the pictures.  You can fully blame my co-workers.  They made me do it.  Please ignore. )

What Home? - Update

Time for an update!
Thankfully my parents live in the same state, so they agreed to let me live with them for a few weeks.  Nothing like moving back in with your parents when you are 29 years old and have been living on your own for several years!  The thing that sucks is they are about 25 miles from my job and even further from where C is staying. This translates into at least an hour of traffic every morning and evening.  Not my favorite!
The bummer with this living situation is they are allergic to October (my cat).  They asked if I would be willing to put her up in a kennel the whole time if they paid for it.  The whole idea of that brought me to tears.  Seriously, I cried for a few hours in a ball on the bed. C was utterly lost as to what to do.
I decided to put up on Facebook a request to see if anyone would be willing to watch her.  For a while people just kept commenting on how cute she was….but no one was offering to help!  Finally, the next morning a friend said she and her daughter would watch her.  I was ecstatic! I miss her like crazy, but I know she’s in good hands.
As for our stuff, it’s in a friend’s garage.  I took two days off of work and we boxed everything up and drove it to the next city (it took us several trips and the use of a friends truck). We were up until 3 in the morning the first night!  Let me tell you, moving with no notice really sucks!  Also, finding boxes that quickly is no easy task. I would highly suggest going to Wal-Mart between the hours of 12 and 1am….that’s when they are stocking shelves.  We just grabbed a cart and walked around the store collecting empty boxes.
I get to see C a few times a week which is nice.  But let me tell you, its difficult going from living together to being apart like this.  Good morning texts just aren’t the same as the real thing!
I am grateful though that we were able to find a solution for everything. No, it’s clearly not ideal, but it’s working.  You better believe though that I am counting down the days until I am not living out of a suitcase again.
12 days down, 4 to go!
