Starbox Review - September

Starbox time!

Just in case you don’t know, Starbox is a monthly beauty box that is $15 a month (plus a few dollars S&H) and comes with 3-4 FULL SIZED products each time.  No tiny lotion samples!
The website says the makeup line is comparable to MAC, Chanel, Sephora and other department store lines.  It also says that the value of each monthly box ranges from $35.00 to $99.00.

This is the third time I have had to call Starlooks (who produces Starbox) because of a missing box.  Their computer system is honestly terrible.  This time it had completely dropped my subscription, though I hadn’t done anything different or even been on the website. Thankfully, they have great customer service and they sent out a box immediately and refunded my money for this month.

The theme of this box is “Here Comes the Bride.”   I can say as a September bride this year, used one product similar to these, but I could see how a few may be considered bridal as well.

Here it is….the September Starbox!

      1)     Starlooks Lip Liner in “Roseate” -  .14 oz  (FULL SIZE)
Here we go again with another nude/rose colored lip liner.  I am not a fan of lip liners so this is useless to me. This one claims to be so versatile that “it can stand as a lipstick alone, or be paired with any neutral or bold lip color you desire.”  All I can say is that is quite a claim!  I highly doubt it is true though.
Full Size: $12.00 My Value: $12.00

      2)    Starlooks Kohl Eye Pencil in “Oracle”  - .14 oz. (FULL SIZE)
I think this is definitely the main product I received that I would NOT have used
on my wedding day. I went for classic black liner, as I assume many other brides do
as well! I just do look right with anything other than black, so though this is pretty, it
will not be getting any use from me.
Full Size: $12.00 My Value: $12.00

      3)    Starlooks Eye Shadow in “Tan Glow” - .11 oz. (FULL SIZE)
Contrary to a lot of brides, I went with golden and brown hues and even added some sage green (one of my wedding colors) to my eye shadow.  This color would have worked perfectly for me.  I can’t see many other brides using though, as most tend to choose “natural” or light “smokey eye.”  I don’t think this bronze color would work for them.  It really is a beautiful color though, I can’t wait to use it!
Full Size: $12.00 My Value: $12.00

      4)    Starlooks False Lash Set #FL9 - (FULL SIZE)
Before my wedding I got eyelash extensions so I didn’t need to use falsies that day.  Had I needed them though, this would have been a great pair to use.  They are definitely bride worthy!  I will be hanging on to these for future special events for sure.
Full Size: $13.00 My Value: $13.00

Final Cost: $17.58
Final Value: $49.00

As I was a September bride this year, I love that this was the theme.  Too bad it came a few weeks AFTER my wedding!  I am happy with half the items in this box, which I guess would be a win.  If I were a fan of lip liners and eye liners, I would probably like these as well. The colors are perfect, I just don’t use those specific products.

What do you think?

Starbox Review - August

Starbox time!

Just in case you don’t know, Starbox is a monthly beauty box that is $15 a month (plus a few dollars S&H) and comes with 3-4 FULL SIZED products each time.  No tiny lotion samples!
The website says the makeup line is comparable to MAC, Chanel, Sephora and other department store lines.  It also says that the value of each monthly box ranges from $35.00 to $99.00.

I am on the fence about continuing this box, but I am waiting to see what their next loyalty reward is.  Every three months as a subscriber you get a $35 coupon code to shop in their store.  I’ve heard rumor this is going away.

The theme of this box is “Doll House.”

Here it is….the August Starbox!

           1)     Starlooks Liquid Eye Liner in “Black” -  .14 oz  (FULL SIZE)
I am really really excited about this! I got lash extensions a few weeks ago and I have had to start using pencil liner because the gel and brush is just too difficult right now.  As I’m not a big pencil liner, I didn’t have many nice ones laying around.  This will be perfect!
Full Size: $16.00 My Value: $16.00

          2)    Starlooks Blush compact #3B2 - .26 oz. (FULL SIZE)
Oooo these are really pretty.  I love that it has various shades. The picture didn’t turn
out too well, these are all much darker than they look.  The darkest one is almost too
dark, but the other two are really beautiful.  I will definitely be using this!
Full Size: $46.00 My Value: $45.00

Final Cost: $17.58
Final Value: $62.00

I am a little bummed that this box doesn’t have at least one more product in it, but I am really happy with the products I got!  I wish they would have added a gloss or lip stick to complete the look.   Plus, only two items (though high priced) is a bit of a let down! Doesn't that picture and item list just look so lacking?!?

Starbox Review - July

Starbox time!

If you don’t remember, Starbox is a monthly beauty box that is $15 a month (plus a few dollars S&H) and comes with 3-4 FULL SIZED products each time.  No tiny lotion samples!
The website says the makeup line is comparable to MAC, Chanel, Sephora and other department store lines.  It also says that the value of each monthly box ranges from $35.00 to $99.00.

I am only one or two months away from cancelling this box.  I just don’t love it as much as I used to, so it’s on probation right now. I will likely wait to make up my mind until after their quarterly gift, which I believe comes next month.

The theme of this box is “Nylon Pink” which I know nothing about. After some googling, I found out that they are the only Asian-American all girl rock band in the US.  So…..they are picking my make up this month?

Here it is….the July Starbox!

           1)     Starlooks Eye Pencil in “Blue Chill” -  .08 oz  (FULL SIZE)
I guess if I wore eye liner pencils this would be a decent item. The blue color is pretty. It’s not too crazy bright, but you can tell it is definitely a blue. Alas, I don’t use eyeliner pencils though.
Full Size: $12.00 My Value: $12.00

           2)    Starlooks Eye Shadow in “Traffic Yellow”– .11 oz. (FULL SIZE)
I’m sorry but what?  How many people would ever use yellow shadow that often?
Traffic Yellow sounds so far from appealing to me.  I definitely won’t be using this.
It’s not even a pretty gold tone, its dirty yellow. Boo.
Full Size: $12.00 My Value: $12.00

           3)    Starlooks Tender Gloss in “Pooh Bear”  – .13 oz. (FULL SIZE)
When I read the name of this lipstick I was instantly afraid to open it.  I KNEW I wouldn’t like it.  I mean, Pooh is yellow and the only other color to him is his bright red shirt.  Imagine my surprise when the lipstick was neither of those, but still ugly.  Only certain people can get away with electric orange lips and I am not one of them.  Another fail.
Full Size: $13.00 My Value: $13.00

           4)    Starlooks Lip Pencil in “Tipsy”  – .08 oz. (FULL SIZE)
I think this is the only thing in the box that a normal makeup user might wear.  It’s just a pinkish nude lip pencil, nothing new.  Too bad I don’t use lip pencils either!
Full Size: $13.00 My Value: $13.00

Final Cost: $17.58
Final Value: $45.00

Whelp, this whole box was a waste of $17.58 for me.  What a bummer. The idea was fun, but the company didn’t even come close to playing it safe. I am pretty sure majority of their subscribers aren’t ones to wear makeup like this.

Funny thing, last month I said I thought this box was running out of original things, it just seemed to be the same old boring stuff.  Guess I got what I asked for right?!?  Haha oh man.

Starbox Review - June

Starbox time!

I'm sorry I've been so MIA lately guys....I have soooo much going on.  I hope to explain more soon!

So lets get on with the review!

I am still iffy on this box. Sometimes I love it and sometimes I just don’t.  I can’t decide if it is worth it to me or not.

The theme of this box is “Royals” which I think is cute.  It’s a very popular idea for right now!

Here it is….the June Starbox!

           1)     Starlooks Longwear Lipstick in “Limitless” -  .12 oz  (FULL SIZE)
At I’m sorry, but this color is terrible. I can’t even say anything else about it.  I do like their longwear lipsticks, but this is not one that will be going anywhere near my lips! Yes, it kind of fits the theme, but that does nothing for me.
Full Size: $13.00 My Value: $13.00

           2)    Starlooks Longwear Eyeliner Pot in “Sun”– .08 oz. (FULL SIZE)
I really don’t like the color of this either.  Bummer. I honestly can’t imagine this
bright yellow gold liner looks good on very many people at all.  Yes, it’s nice that it
doubles as a shadow and a liner, but it’s just no good to me. Again, it goes with the
theme, but I don’t like it.
Full Size: $15.00 My Value: $15.00

           3)    Starlooks Cream Blush in “Fallen Angel”  – .21 oz. (FULL SIZE)
Now this is something I really like. I mean, the color is gorgeous!  I am not one for cream blushes really, but this one is just too pretty to not give it a try! I can’t wait to play with it!
Full Size: $17.00 My Value: $17.00

Final Cost: $17.58
Final Value: $45.00

I like the products in the box…..but the colors are just terrible.  So it’s a win/lose for me.  Bummer.   I really do love the cream blush though, so at least it’s not a wash!

I feel like the company is losing a little momentum.  They used to really have great boxes and now they are running out of original products to give, they are just the same thing all the time.  I guess if you haven’t had this box for a while though like me, it would probably be pretty awesome!

Starbox Review - May

Starbox time!

I am still not sure if I want to keep this box, but I thought I’d hang on a little bit longer. Every quarter they send out a “loyalty gift” of $35 to their store, which is pretty awesome. It almost pays for the boxes themselves!

The theme of this box is “Wander” which um?  I don’t get it. How is that a theme?

Here it is….the May Starbox!

           1)     Starlooks Iridescent Loose Powder -  .63 oz  (FULL SIZE)
At first I was really excited about this because I use loose powder everyday.  Then, I noticed all of the sparkles in this and got sad.  How the heck am I supposed to use this?  It’s like a sparkly bronzing powder. Very sparkly. Since I am not 12 and also not a beach goddess, I doubt I will be getting much use out of this.
Full Size: $21.00 My Value: $21.00

          2)    Starlooks eye Pencil in “Exit to Eden”– 2.4g (FULL SIZE)
This is actually a really pretty color and I am tempted to use it.  It’s a like shimmery,
summery green color. I would probably use it under my eyes as opposed to on my
lids.  I need dark on my lids for some definition.
Full Size: $12.00 My Value: $12.00

          3)    Starlooks Makeup Remover  – 3.38 oz. (FULL SIZE)
I’ve actually been looking for a good makeup remover so I am very happy about
this.  It’s a pretty small bottle for the price, but hey, I’ll take it! Hopefully it takes off
this new eyeliner I’ve been using (gel liner from Mica Beauty).  That stuff sticks like
           no other!
Full Size: $15.00 My Value: $15.00

     3)   Starlooks Spa Towells  – 1 towel (FULL SIZE)
First of all, ya'll spelled towells wrong. Second of all, a towel with lotion on it? A towel
that costs over a dollar to use and probably doesn't even cover half my body? No
           thanks!
Full Size: $13.50 for 10 My Value: $1.35

 Final Cost: $17.58
Final Value: $48.00

I am indifferent on this months box.  I don’t hate it, but I don’t love it either.  I like the makeup remover…but that just seems so boring.  Oh well, at least I will definitely get some use out of it!
