Starbox Review - January

Time to show you my Starbox!

The theme of this box was Surprise Yourself.  The email they sent out said everyone got something different. There was a bit of an issue with this box, as you will see below. I called Starbox and they fixed it right away. 10 points for great customer service!

If you don’t remember, Starbox is a monthly beauty box that is $15 a month (plus a few dollars S&H) and comes with 3-4 FULL SIZED products each time.  No tiny lotion samples!

The website says the makeup line is comparable to MAC, Chanel, Sephora and other department store lines.  It also says that the value of each monthly box ranges from $35.00 to $99.00.

So here we go….the January Starbox!

(Note, I opened this box in real time and wrote about each item as I looked at it)

      1)     Starlooks Sculpt and Blush Brush #906 –  (FULL SIZE)

Oooo this is the first brush I have received from them and I really like it! I usually like a fairly firm brush for putting blush on, so this will work great!

Full Size: $22.00 My Value: $22.00

      2)    Starlooks Eyebrow Bursh – (FULL SIZE)

            I wish I could say I’d use this….but I won’t!  Since I have bangs you can’t even see my
eyebrows, which means I won’t be brushing them anytime soon! Also, I am guessing
on the price of this as I can’t find it anywhere on their site!

Full Size: $5.00 My Value: $5.00

      3)    Starlooks Glitter in “Emerald” – .07 oz. (FULL SIZE)

Not happy about this at all. I actually have already received this exact same product. I
wasn’t happy about it the first time either!  What the heck am I going to do with
another container of green glitter?!?  It’s a really pretty color…but I am just not a
glitter person. The email from the company says the let them know if you received
duplicate products, so you better believe I will be doing that!

Full Size: $17.00 My Value: $17.00

      4)    Starlooks Infinity Lipstick in “Endless (Satin)” – .08 oz. (FULL SIZE)

Wow.  I have this already too.  Gggrr.  I like this lipstick, but probably not enough to have two of them! You better believe I am sending that email now!

Full Size: $15.00 My Value: $15.00

     5)    Starlooks Infinity Lipstick in “Eons”– .08 oz. (FULL SIZE)

Guess what?  I have this too.  Not cool Starlooks, not cool.   I will let you know what they say once I email them.

Full Size: $15.00 My Value: $15.00

Final Cost: $17.58

Final Value: $74.00

So yeah.  Obviously I wasn’t happy with this box, even though the value is great again.  I got three makeup products that I have already received before and some brushes. I see how this could happen if they are clearing out their inventory and just throwing a few items in each box.  I was thinking maybe I’d get one duplicate….but three?!?

So I called their customer service and without asking any questions the rep told me they would send me another box! Yay! It took about two days, which is pretty crazy. Below is what I got.

      1)     Starlooks Lipgloss in  “Elegant” –.14 oz.  (FULL SIZE)

This is pretty!  It’s a bit bright for me, but I am definitely going to try it. I think I’ll be able to mute it with a little magic.

Full Size: $12.00 My Value: $12.00

      2)    Starlooks Lipstick in “Hathaway – .13 oz. (FULL SIZE)

Another red lipstick. Fail. It’s a pretty color, I just know I’ll never use it.

Full Size: $12.00 My Value: $12.00

      3)    Starlooks Lip Pencil in “Risque” – .08 oz. (FULL SIZE)

Whelp, I guess this matches the lipstick.  Fail again.  I won’t get any use out of this
            either.

Full Size: $12.00 My Value: $12.00

      4)    Starlooks Eye Pencil in “Brown” – .08 oz. (FULL SIZE)

Dang. Another thing I won’t use. I can’t really use eye pencils and definitely not in brown! Boo.

Full Size: $12.00 My Value: $12.00

Final Cost: $0.00

Final Value: $48.00

I was really hoping they would redeem themselves! I guess I just wasn’t so lucky this month. Oh well. I am going to continue getting this box :)  I love that every three boxes you get the send you a special surprise too! Mine will come in March.

What do you think?

Let's Be Friends Blog Hop

Welcome to the Let's Be Friends Blog Hop!

A blog hop is a set time frame for current or aspiring bloggers to find new blogs and quality content. It is a great way to make new friends and find inspiration! It is also a fabulous way to promote your own blog and posts.

Dear Friends,

What a day to celebrate! This is the 51st week of the Let's Be Friends blog hop! Thanks for joining us on this special day. Chelsee and Tiffany are extremely delighted to see the way this hop has grown and love to see your faces each week!

Join us every Tuesday at 7am (MST). This blog hop focuses on content. LINK UP YOUR FAVORITE POST from last week in this fun content-sharing blog hop! I love the idea of blog hopping, but I love the idea of reading posts and quality content on new blogs I've never been to even more. Instead of simply linking up your blog button, you are now able to link up your favorite post you recently wrote. Have a delicious recipe to share, DIY tutorial, or heartfelt post? Share it with us! All hosts and co-hosts put up some unique and fun content from the past week. Make sure to check them out. P.S.- you may still link up your blog button and blog name, but it is encouraged to link up your favorite post instead. You will get more page views and interest if you do so! Some of the most successful blog hops I have participate in focus on content rather than just exchanging follows. You never know who will become a loyal follower or pin that delicious new recipe you posted!

The BEST part of this blog hop? Each week there will be a WINNER! That's right, each week we will choose one lucky blog to feature from the previous week's hop. This hop receives thousands of page views every week, so your blog will have the chance to be center stage for free. You must follow all the hosts and co-hosts in order to win. Only those who link up a specific post are eligible to be featured! *You must follow all the hosts and co-hosts in order to win.

The last exciting change is that the co-host spots will now be available to all sponsors of  The Dwelling Tree or Southern Beauty Guide. If you are interested in co-hosting the blog hop, email Tiffany or Chelsee about sponsorship opportunities and how to co-host the weekly hop!

***This weeks featured post from last week's hop:
Endless Bliss

Hey everyone! It's Chelsee!  This week I had the pleasure of picking a winner. Wow! That pretty much is the word that sums up my thoughts on all of the posts that were linked up last week. You all submitted amazing posts last week and they were all a joy to read. It seems that each week it gets harder and harder to choose a winner, but this week there was a post that really stuck a cord with me. I truly felt that this is a post that everyone needs to read.

Tiffany is a 20 something, army brat, graduate from Louisiana Tech, that owns an actual Hedgehog! I kid you not his name is Flitwick and he is oh so cute! Her blog is mostly focused on her life and the ramblings within it.

This post was very inspirational. Sometimes you come across these posts that just speak to you, and this one is no different. Tiffany last week chose to linkup a motivational post called "I want to be forever young." She brought up an interesting point about us all wanting to grow up so fast, but when we do that we miss the "good ole days" and want to be young forever. I think this is an idea that truly applies to us all. She said "I'm only as old as I feel" and I personally feel that this is a interesting way to look at things.  I mean who of us has dreamed of growing up? I think the real point behind this post is "Don't grow up too fast." Make sure you head over and read the entire post, it is definitely one that will put life into perspective!

Keep posting awesome content! You make it so fun for me to read all your posts! If you can, please link up a specific post. It makes it easier for us to come and visit!

*Remember YOU can be next weeks winner! :)

October

No, when I say October I am not talking about the month.

I am talking about this little lady :)
I am sure I have mentioned that I have a cat at some point, but I thought today I would show her off.
I got her at a shelter about four years ago after I had finally moved into my own place.  Yes, I did actually get her in October, but that’s not why I named her that.  I had always wanted to get an orange tabby cat and name it that, I just thought it was cute.
When I went to the shelter and met all of the kittens, this one stood out to me.  At the time, her name was Artemis, which I believe is a Greek god (and even mentioned in the Bible). She was part orange tabby, but also looked part everything in the book!  The employee took her out of the cage and left the room to let me play with her.

I pulled out some of the toys they had laying around and she began walking around and batting them.  She even cuddled up to me a bit.  When the employee came back in the room she was shocked. She told me Artemis NEVER did that. She mentioned she didn’t play with anyone and was always really scared.
That’s how I knew it was meant to be.

She has seriously been the best cat ever.  She has never destroyed anything I own (yes, I had her front paws declawed at 6 months) or made me angry. She has only “gotten sick” (if you know what I mean) once and that was when I fed her questionably outdated turkey. Whoops.
She was addicted to the sink when she was little. I found her in it ALL the time!  I have pics of her growing up....in the sink. See:
She is extremely smart. She rarely falls for laser pointers and knows how to open doors. She also knows she is not allowed on the bed, but she loves it, so she jumps up in the middle of the night when I am sleeping. I always wake up to her cuddled up right next to me.
The day we moved in with C
Also, she can jump higher than most light switches, which is ridiculous.

She also loves to hang out with me in the bathroom while I am getting ready each morning. She hears me get out of bed and meets me at the door.  She hangs out with me until I pull out the blow dryer, at which time she heads towards the door again to be let out. That’s because she is afraid of it!  She cowers in the corner if I have it on while she is in the room.
She is the definition of “scaredy cat” for sure.
I love her to death and so does C.  I know he wouldn’t admit it to everyone, but it’s the truth.  I’ve caught the two of them playing together more times than I can count and I know he cuddles up with her when I am gone!
