These Are My Confessions

Soooo….I have a few makeup confessions to make! I know I may seem like I know it all since I am totally addicted to purchasing and talking about beauty products, but it’s not the truth.

I am pretty simple and set in my ways when it comes to my makeup. I haven't really changed much of what I do or wear in years!

  1. I do my eyeshadow the same way - Every. Single. Time. Yes, I always switch up the colors I use but I use the same basic pattern.  Dark shadow on the outside of my eyelid, light shadow across the inner and middle lid, and then a medium (usually brighter) color in between the mid and outer lid.

                      Kind of like this:

  1. I have no clue what the heck to do with primer – I have several foundation primers that I have tried before putting on foundation and I just don’t get the point of them. In fact, they seem to totally ruin my foundation instead. It gets all globby and I end up having to take it off and starting again…sans primer.  Am I doing it wrong?  What is the point of this stuff?
  1. Speaking of foundation, I am really clueless on the stuff – I don’t know my color, I don’t have a favorite brand, I don’t even use any nice brands. When mine runs out, I usually just go to CVS and buy the cheapest one!  For a while I was using tinted moisturizer, but I’ve kind of switched from that.  Help!  What is a good, decently priced foundation to use? Or are BB creams better?
  1. You already know this….I can’t use an eye pencil – I just can’t ever get the darn thing to draw a line on my eyelid! Gel liner is my jam.

Ok....I spilled the beans. Now its your turn!  Do you have any makeup confessions?!?

Words

“To the person saying them, words are just words.  But to the person hearing them, words are often everything.”
This is probably the truest statement I’ve ever come up with.
For me, when someone says something to me, I take it to heart.  No matter what.  If it’s said in anger or just in passing, I completely envelope what was said to me and believe that person meant it to their very core.
Obviously, this is a problem.  I have tried to not let things affect me, but I just can’t do it.  I am so hurt by what people say to me sometimes that I can’t focus.  I spend days thinking about what they said.
I know I am over-reacting, but I can’t help how I feel.
How do you learn to let the words people say not hurt you? How do you get past it?

Real Talk

Day 20: Get real. Share something you're struggling with right now.
Patience. I am definitely struggling with patience. And jealousy.
(This is probably not going to make me sound like a nice person at all, but its how I feel)
So as I have written, C and I have talked a lot about getting married (for almost a year now). He’s been telling me he wants to propose almost just as long. But obviously, he hasn’t, or you would definitely know about it.  We’ve been ring shopping, but it didn’t go any further than that. We’ve talked about getting married before the end of the year and certainly before his season starts again next year in March.  Clearly we can’t do that if he doesn’t propose.
I am trying my best to be patient.  I know these things take time and rings aren’t a fly by the seat of your pants kind of purchase.  I understand all that.  By why keep telling me you are going to do it, then not following through?
One of C’s teammates got engaged this weekend.  They found out they were pregnant about a month ago (unplanned).  I can tell you with about 99% certainty that they were not thinking of getting married before they found out that little bit of news. She hadn’t even decided if she was going to move here full time yet.  I’m sorry, but I am totally jealous.  I have been waiting for months and they have an oops and now she get what I’ve so desperately wanted? Green-Eyed monster over here.   Funny, took him less than a month to decide on marriage and purchase a ring.
Wow. I know I sound terrible.  For some reason though, I just can’t help it.  I want to spend forever with C. I want to start our life together. I want to start a family together. From what he says, he wants that too. But it just isn’t going to happen with empty promises. I know when he does propose it will be amazing and I will forget I ever felt this way. For now though, I am running thin on patience and getting super jealous of everyone who “goes before.”
How do I calm down and just let it happen?  How do I tame the green-eyed monster?!?

Confessions: Part One

I miss Boston.   I went there in August for a week on a business trip and then spent a few extra days exploring. I fell in love.  Something about the city just pulled me in.  I can’t even explain it. It’s almost kind of scary how drawn I was to it.  Maybe I will end up there some day?

Most of the time I am perfectly ok being single.  But sometimes, I’m just not.  I just want someone to go to the movies with.  Someone who will be my date to a wedding.  Someone who will listen to how my day went. Someone I can take care of and just generally care for. Someone who will sit on the couch and watch the Kardashian’s with me.

The Kardashian’s are my guilty pleasure.  I have a crush on Kim.  I think it is because we are a lot alike, especially body wise.  When I promoted Bacardi, I used to tell people I was the “Kim Kardashian of the Bacardi models.”  I’m skinny, but I’m also curvy. And I think I am ok with that. Most days.

I hate mopping my floors. I will do all the cleaning in my house except that. I probably go a couple months before I mop again.  If there is something dirty on the floor during that time, I will most likely take a wet paper towel to it so it looks clean again. Thankfully, I have dark tile floors so it is hard to tell they are dirty.

I pointed my hair dryer at my cat this morning and made a “pew, pew” sound like I was shooting a laser gun at her.  Clearly I need a 5 year old in my life, because that’s sometimes how I act.
