Boxy Charm - January

Boxy Charm time!

Sadly, this is my last Boxy Charm.  It’s time for me to stop ordering so much makeup…my cabinets are literally overflowing. I will never in a million years use all of the makeup that I have. Good news is I went out with a bang. I LOVE this month’s box!
Boxy Charm is $21.00 a month with shipping included and is a “beauty box subscription that surprises you each month with the best beauty products from popular and chic brands. Each box contains full size and luxury size beauty samples from preferred well-known brands.” They aim to cover a whole look from makeup to nails, which I really like.

The theme this month is “Eyes on 2016” which makes sense with the New Year.  All of the products fit right in with the theme too!

Here is the January Boxy Charm!
1)  Blinc Mascara Amplified in “Black”  – .25 oz.(FULL SIZE)
I just heard about this stuff the other day, but I guess it is all the rage?  I am currently in love with my Younique mascara, but I will have to give this a try.  It’s something I would have never purchased on my own, so it’s great I am getting it in my Boxy Charm!
Full Size: $26.00 My Value: $26.00

2)  Coastal Scents Revealed Smoky Eyeshadow Palette – 20 shades (FULL SIZE)
I love this!  I have always been a fan of Coastal Scents, so I am excited every time I receive one of their palettes through a subscription box.  I think the color payoff on their shadows is amazing, they are very pigmented.  They used to be a lot cheaper, so now I am not sure I would pay full price for one of their palettes…I would wait for a sale! I wish there were a few more light colors in this palette but overall the colors are quite pretty!
Full Size: $39.95 My Value: $39.95
3)   Royal & Langnickel Revolution Brush Set – 3 brushes (FULL SIZE)
This kit includes a detailed shadow brush, a pointed crease and corner brish and a smudging and contouring brush.  I have started to become more interested in the brushes I am using to put on my eyeshadow (I know, I am really late to the party) so this couldn’t have come at a better time. I am excited to try these out!
Full Size: $7.99 each or $23.97 My Value: $23.97

4)   Ardency Inn Modster Smooth Ride Supercharged Eyeliner in “Hot Pink” – .04 oz. (FULL SIZE)
Well, I am the kind of person that only wears black eye liner, but if I were super adventurous I would totally try this.  The color is just gorgeous!  I am afraid I would look like I had pink eye though…which isn’t flattering. Maybe I can find an 80’s party to go to so I can use it?

Full Size: $20.00 My Value: $20.00

Final Cost: $21.00
Final Value: $109.92
I absolutely love this month’s Boxy Charm!  It almost makes me sad that I cancelled my subscription.  Being an adult is so hard sometimes! I love that I am getting to try the Blinc mascara and I am really excited to try both the brushes and the shadow palette. Though the liner isn’t a color I would use, I don’t even hate it because it is so pretty!

What are your thoughts?

Boxy Charm - December

Boxy Charm time!

The theme this month is “Pop Fizz Clink” which makes sense with the New Year.  The card included mention’s reveling in the “charm of an era or decadence and glamour” and looking back to a time when “Jazz, boas, glitter and pearls hit it big.”  Fun!

Here is the December Boxy Charm!

1)  Tatcha Petal Fresh Original Aburatorigami  – 30 sheets (FULL SIZE)
Ok the name sounds really fancy….but these are just oil absorbing sheets. I’m not too impressed, even if they are made from “100% natural abaca leaf and gold flake.”  Did you know a CLEAN toilet seat cover will do the same exact thing?!?  Beauty trick hehe.
Full Size: $12.00 My Value: $12.00

2)  Jelly Pong Pong All Over Glow - .68 oz (FULL SIZE)
First of all, I just can’t get over this name. I can’t take the brand seriously!! That being said, I unfortunately have too many luminizers from brands I respect more, so I doubt this will be getting much use.  The one thing I do appreciate about it though it that the tube is quite large.  It will last a LONG time!
Full Size: $15.95 My Value: $15.95

3)   NCLA So Rich Cuticle Oil – .5 oz.  (FULL SIZE)
I appreciate that this is different from the usual nail polish, but I’m not sure it is something I would ever use. Since I am not a nail polish user and don’t ever need to use lotion, my cuticles have no issues. Plus, you are supposed to apply two times a day. Who has time for that?
Full Size: $18.00 My Value: $18.00

4)   Nelson J Argan Oil Moisture Healing Mask – 3.4 oz. (FULL SIZE)
I like the smell of this, it smells like coconuts. Yum.  I think I would normally get use out of a product like this, but I don’t like the fact that you need to towel dry your hair first before application, then let it sit, rinse and then you have to towel dry again. I prefer one I can use completely while in the shower!
Full Size: $23.00 My Value: $23.00

5)   Ofra Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick in “Mocha” – .27 oz. (FULL SIZE)
For some reason I am not a fan of Ofra products and I unfortunately receive them often in beauty boxes.  The particular lip product is too drying for me and the color is too orangy.  Bummer.
Full Size: $19.90 My Value: $19.90

6)   Bellepierre Waterproof Gel Lip Liner in “Cinnamon” – .06 oz. (FULL SIZE)
As this matches the lipstick about, which is a color I don’t care for, I won’t be getting any use out of this either.  I do like that it is a “gel” liner though.  I really like gel eyeliners, so I assume the gel lip liner would be great as well!
Full Size: $17.99 My Value: $17.99

Final Cost: $21.00
Final Value: $106.84

I am feeling pretty indifferent about this month’s Boxy Charm. While overall, the products look great, they just aren’t really for me.  I think I will only be using the oil absorbing sheets and maybe the hair mask.  I am pretty bummed the lip products aren’t my color, otherwise I’d be using them too!

What are your thoughts?

Boxy Charm Review - November

Boxy Charm time!

The theme this month is “Beauty Par-Tea” which is a cute idea.  It seems more like a spring idea, but cute nonetheless.

Here is the November Boxy Charm!
1)  Luxe Rose Gold Concearler Eye Brush #211  – (FULL SIZE)
I don’t use concealer too often (gasp) but I think I might start soon, my face has been breaking out. Boo.  This seems to be the perfect brush for that.  I also think it would be a good brush for using any cream shadows.  The description says it is “coated with antibacterial solution” which sounds a bit odd, but hey, it can’t hurt right?
Full Size: $12.00 My Value: $12.00

2)  Pur~Lisse Pur~Eye Adore Quandra Benefit Eye Serum - .5 oz(FULL SIZE)
I have gotten several products from this brand in past beauty boxes.  I do like them, but they aren’t magical enough to pay the price they charge for them, so I won’t ever be buying them.  At least this will last a lot longer than the small, equally high priced moisturizers I’ve received since you don’t use much at a time! The description says it contains “French marie plants to bring 4x the power in antiaging” Ooo La La!
Full Size: $65.00 My Value: $65.00

3)   Manna Kadar Liplocked Priming Glass Stain in “All of Me” – .18oz.  (FULL SIZE)
I thought this might be a nice color for me, but it turns out it is too bright for my taste. It was too drying for me as well.  My lips seem to be quite picky.  I do like the packaging for this though.
Full Size: $24.00 My Value: $24.00

4)   Coolway Leave-In Treatment – 2 oz. (FULL SIZE)
I can’t believe this is considered a full size product for something you are supposed to “spray generously” into your hair.  I feel like I would only get a few uses out of it! The product itself is a pretty thick consistency, kind of like lotion.  I honestly can’t see myself spraying this on dry hair for fear that it would look greasy!  It does smell really good though, so I will give it a try on damp/wet hair.
Full Size: $19.95 My Value: $19.95
5)   Studio Makeup Soft Blend Blush Sahara in “Wildflower” – .17 oz. (FULL SIZE)
I love the color of this!  It is so perfect for me.  What I don’t love is how drying it is.  I wore it alone for maybe 30 minutes and had to add a gloss over it because it felt too dry.  2 hours later my lips were peeling.  Lame. I don’t do well with the “long-lasting” lip products.
Full Size: $17.00 My Value: $17.00
Final Cost: $21.00
Final Value: $137.95

I can’t say I love this month’s box, but I don’t hate it either. I will be using everything but the lip stain.  I’m not an eye serum person, but I guess it doesn’t hurt to use it! I am excited to make use of the concealer brush and the blush though.  Again….I like it….but love it.  Oh well.

Boxy Charm Review - October

Boxy Charm time!

The last few boxes I got were pretty much amazing….can this month keep up?

Boxy Charm is $21.00 a month with shipping included and is a “beauty box subscription that surprises you each month with the best beauty products from popular and chic brands. Each box contains full size and luxury size beauty samples from preferred well-known brands.” They aim to cover a whole look from makeup to nails, which I really like.

The theme this month is “Faces of the Moon” which has a dark feel to it.  I guess that makes sense with the Fall/Halloween stuff going on this month.

Here is the October Boxy Charm!
1)  Palmetto Derma Rejuvenating Antioxidant Mask  – 1.75 oz. (FULL SIZE)
Wow…this is another one of those products that must work crazy miracles based solely on the price.  This container is so small….I would NEVER pay that much for a mask! I rather go get a full on facial complete with a hand and foot massage!
Full Size: $64.00 My Value: $64.00

2)  Doucce Punk Volumizer Mascara in “Black”  - 13.5 mL (FULL SIZE)
I can’t imagine this mascara is much different from any other mascara I have tried but hey, maybe I will be surprised.  Either way, I am always like trying new brands and this is for sure one I have never heard of!
Full Size: $24.00 My Value: $24.00

3)   Bellapierre Cheek and Lip Stain in “Coral” – .176oz.  (FULL SIZE)
I am getting tired of getting items from this brand.  I feel like it has popped up many times in both my Ipsy and Boxy Charm mailings….as well as other beauty boxes I used to get.  The brand must get a lot of business from the boxes though?  I’m not really wowed by the brand, so I this doesn’t thrill me.  Their lip products are too drying for me and I feel like this is too greasy to put on my face as a cheek stain.
Full Size: $19.99 My Value: $19.99

4)   Lord & Berry Line/Shade Eyeliner in “Dark Black” – .03 oz. (FULL SIZE)
I am excited to try this.  I have been testing different eyeliners since I finally learned how to use them. I have only found 2 brands I really like though, because they have to be really soft or “gel” like for me to use them.  Fingers crossed this one is soft!
Full Size: $18.00 My Value: $18.00

5)   Cult Cosmetics Nail Polish in “Boneyards” – .5 oz. (FULL SIZE)
Welp this is way too dark for me if I were to even use nail polish.  That’s all I can say about that.
Full Size: $12.00 My Value: $12.00

Final Cost: $21.00
Final Value: $137.99

Well after two fantastic months from Boxy Charm I have to say I am slightly disappointed, though not much.  There aren’t any products that I love and am really excited about, but I still think I will get use out of everything but the nail polish. As always, the value is fantastic, but I think it’s a bit high because the price of some of the products is ridiculous in my eyes.

What are your thoughts?

Boxy Charm Review - September

Boxy Charm time!

This box has been hitting it out of the park for me lately. It is $21.00 a month with free shipping and is a “beauty box subscription that surprises you each month with the best beauty products from popular and chic brands. Each box contains full size and luxury size beauty samples from preferred well-known brands.” They aim to cover a whole look from makeup to nails, which I really like.

The theme this month is “Runway Ready” which I suppose makes sense.  It’s not very creative though.  I could care less though, I am very happy with what I received!

Here is the September Boxy Charm!

1)            Previse Skincare HydroMilk Hydrating Lotion  – 2 oz. (FULL SIZE)
$48 for 2 oz. of lotion? Seriously? This stuff better work miracles!
Full Size: $48.00 My Value: $48.00

2)            Vasanti Professional Foundation Brush  - (FULL SIZE)
Maybe this is bad, but I just use my fingers to put on foundation.  I feel like it takes so much
longer to use a brush, because you need to include cleaning time and such.  I don’t
think I will be using this, but I’ll save it in case I ever decide to start using one! It seems like
                a very nice brush!
Full Size: $32.00 My Value: $32.00

3)            Tarte SmolderEYES Amazonian Clay Waterproof Liner in “Golden Tigers Eye” – .04 oz.  (FULL SIZE)
This doesn’t seem like quite my color, but it is really pretty so I am going to give it a try.  If I
like the formula, maybe I will go buy it in black. I’m excited to try it. I’d say the color is a
dark bronzy brown, really nice.  I honestly like pencil liners these days….I don’t even know
who I am! I used to only use gel liners, but I rather not take the time to clean the brush. All
                about saving time here!
Full Size: $19.00 My Value: $19.00

4)            Chella Eyebrow Defining Gel – .17 oz. (FULL SIZE)
Well, I can’t say this is something I will ever use.  Since I have bangs, you can’t even see my
eyebrows.  I barely wax/pluck those things!  I think I have another container of this stuff
somewhere I’ve had for a while….still unopened. If my eyebrows were visible though, I
might give it a try.  Seems like it would tame them well!
Full Size: $18.00 My Value: $18.00

 5)          SCRATCH Nail Wraps in “Lace Work” – (FULL SIZE)
I don’t usually put any color on my finger nails, but if I do it is pretty neutral.  These wraps
are fun, but still stay on the neutral side of things!  I can’t wait to try them out! If I like
them, the company does a $10/month manicure box…that might be fun to try!
Full Size: $12.00 My Value: $12.00

 6)          Kardashian Beauty Black Seed Dry Oil – .5 oz.
I’m not totally sure what to do with this stuff. Will it make my hair look oily? I’m not sure
how an oil can make hair look  “strong, thick and smooth” but I guess I will have to give it a
               try!
Full Size: $16.50 for 3 oz. My Value: $2.75

7)          Cargo Beach Blush in “Cable Beach”  – .31 (FULL SIZE)
This item isn’t listed on the card included in my box or mentioned anywhere on the
website….so I have no clue how it ended up in my box.  I am soooo glad it did though! It is
beautiful! It’s a bit dark for me, but I think if I do light swipes, it will work out ok.
Full Size: $30.00 My Value: $30.00

Final Cost: $21.00
Final Value: $161.75

I have no clue why people haven’t jumped on the Boxy Charm train yet….just look at that value!  I got products worth almost 8 times what I paid for the box this month! That is crazy.  Though there are a few products I won’t be using (eyebrow gel and foundation brush) the value is still worth it. Heck, even one product (like the blush) more than covers the cost of the box. The rest are just bonus items.  Great job Boxy Charm!

Boxy Charm Review - August

Boxy Charm time!

This box is $21.00 a month with free shipping and is a “beauty box subscription that surprises you each month with the best beauty products from popular and chic brands. Each box contains full size and luxury size beauty samples from preferred well-known brands.” They aim to cover a whole look from makeup to nails, which I really like.

The theme this month is “Gorgeous Globetrotter.”  I was expecting more exotic type items, but these are pretty tradition. I don’t care though, because I’m very happy with what I received!

Here is the August Boxy Charm!

           1)      Mica Beauty Gel Eyeliner in “Black” – .1 oz. (FULL SIZE)
I used to only use gel eyeliners, but have moved on to pencils.  Since I have some gel liner
back in my beauty cabinet, I may have to switch back for a while!  I really do love gel liners
and this one seems great. I would never, ever pay this price though. I think the one from
MAC, which is my favorite, is around $18-$20!
Full Size: $35.00 My Value: $35.00

           2)      Seta Eyeliner Brush  - (FULL SIZE)
I prefer a thin slanted gel liner brush, but it’s been a long time since I’ve given one like this a try.  Maybe I will like it better now!
Full Size: $16.00 My Value: $16.00

3)   Nios Shield Leave-In Conditioner – 4 oz.  (FULL SIZE)
The thing I find quite interesting about this is that it is a leave-in conditioner with sunscreen in it. I’m not sure I have ever seen that before.  I don’t use leave in conditioners very often (heck, I don’t even wash my hair that often!) but I will make it a point to try this when I know I may be outdoors for a while! Also, I can’t see this product lasting very long, so for the cost of this small bottle, I think this would be too high priced for me!
Full Size: $26.00 My Value: $26.00

4)   So Susan Statement Skin Highlighting Crayon – .06 oz. (FULL SIZE)
I’m not really one to use highlighters, but maybe that’s because I am not totally sure how to use them.  The instructions on this say “Glide across your forehead, down the center of your nose and on your chin, and blend. Brighten the eye area by blending onto your brow bones and inner corners of the eye, or mix with foundation to achieve that youthful dewy glow.” I am going to have to try this! I can say though, if I am using that much of this product at a time, I can’t see it last very long. The price seems pretty high when you think of it that way.
Full Size: $20.00 My Value: $20.00

5)   Coastal Scents Revealed 3 Palette  – (FULL SIZE)
Well it was only a couple months ago that I received the Revealed 2 palette from Boxy Charm, but that is not a complaint! I am quite excited about this.  I do think though, that this palette is darker than the previous one.  I don’t get much use out of really dark shadows, so I may not use this as much as the Revealed 2 palette. Still the colors are pretty.  I love Coastal Scents. They have great pigmentation, especially for a “cheap” brand.  Though, I wouldn’t necessarily call them cheap any more.  Their prices have gone up over the past few years.
Full Size: $39.95 My Value: $39.95

Final Cost: $21.00
Final Value: $136.95

BoxyCharm hit it out of the park again for me this month!  I will be using almost every product in this box and I can see some of the items (Palette, Gel Liner and Brush) becoming daily items for me!  I am so happy about the palette and that is double the cost of the box alone. Check out that value too.... it's worth over 6 times what I paid! Great job Boxy Charm!

Boxy Charm Review - July

Boxy Charm review time again!

If you aren't aware yet, this box is $21.00 a month with free shipping and is a “beauty box subscription that surprises you each month with the best beauty products from popular and chic brands. Each box contains full size and luxury size beauty samples from preferred well-known brands.” They aim to cover a whole look from makeup to nails, which I really like.

The theme for July was  “Summertime Radness." I was expecting bright colors and beachy type items maybe, but alas the box really doesn't match the theme in my opinion.

Here is the July Boxy Charm!

            1)      MDMflow Greater Than Mascara in "XXL Black" – .2 oz. (FULL SIZE)
I can't really say this is any different than any other mascara in my opinion, but hey, I'll take
it.  I always like trying new mascaras. The description says that they are introducing it to the
US this month, which is interesting. It is "the most intense, highly pigmented volumizing
mascara with an easy off formation." The tube is really pretty too, it looks like a gold bullet!
Full Size: $35.00 My Value: $35.00

     2)      Vasanti Professional Blush Brush  - (FULL SIZE)
Meh, another blush brush in a beauty box.  Unfortunately I'm not impressed. I wish the box came with blush too, that seems like a given to me!
Full Size: $29.00 My Value: $29.00

3)   yourMinerals Transparent Veil Setting Powder in "Medium" – .5 oz. (FULL SIZE)
I'm actually really happy about this.  I use transparent powder every day to set my makeup....and I am running out! Perfect timing. I am happy with the $3 brand I use though, I can't see myself every paying $26 for the same thing!
Full Size: $26.00 My Value: $26.00

4)   gorge I'll Make You Look Amazing Daily Spray  – 4 oz. (FULL SIZE)
This stuff definitely is intriguing!  I can't wait to try it. Among its many uses are: repairs damaged hair, detangles like no other, prevents split ends, creates amazing silkiness, helps with flat irons and enhances natural body.  That's only 6 of the 10 things listed touting how awesome it is! My only problem with this is the price. I can't imagine this small 4 oz bottle lasts very long, especially using it daily. $30 is a lot to pay pretty often for hair care!
Full Size: $29.95 My Value: $29.95

5)   OFRA Cosmetics Universal Eyebrow Pencil  – .04 oz. (FULL SIZE)
This is disappointing to me because just a month ago I received a brow powder. Where is the variety Boxy Charm? Also, in my opinion this is pretty dark. I can't imagine it being universal!
Full Size: $13.00 My Value: $13.00

Final Cost: $21.00
Final Value: $132.95

Wow Boxy Charm, what an amazing value! I am happy with the items that I will get use out of (the setting powder and mascara) because I suspect I won't be just trying them, they will be an every day use.  I can't wait to try the daily hair spray either.  I could do without the blush brush and the eyebrow pencil, but hey, can't win them all. Pretty good stuff Boxy Charm!

Boxy Charm Review - June

Boxy Charm time again!

The theme this month is “Sea LA Vie.”

Here is the June Boxy Charm!

           1)    Eslor Chlorophyll Lifting Mask – .5 oz. (FULL SIZE)
First of all, for the price, there certainly isn't much in there. Especially since the instructions
say to use twice weekly. Also, I haven't even opened the product, but I noticed that it is
leaking out of the packaging. That being said, I am excited to try it. I love face masks and this
being all natural and made of things like SEAweed, it sounds great for skin. See how they
used this to go towards the SEA theme? Clever!
Full Size: $38.00 My Value: $38.00

           2)      Bellapiere Cosmetics Kabuki Brush  - (FULL SIZE)
I can't say there is anything too exciting about this. It's just another kabuki brush. I can say it is very soft, so maybe that's what is so great about it? I can definitely say I'd never pay full price for it, that's for sure!
Full Size: $29.99 My Value: $29.99

3)   The Beauty Crop Lighting Crew Highlighting Cream – .34 oz. (FULL SIZE)
I don't usually use highlighting cream in my day to day makeup, so I can't see me getting much use out of this. I do like some of the ingredients in this, pineapple and green tea. They definitely makes this stand out from other highlighters.
Full Size: $18.00 My Value: $18.00

4)   ncLA Nail Polish in “Volume IV” – .5 oz. (FULL SIZE)
This particular polish is from their "nudes" collection and is described as a sandy nude. I do like the look of this. I am not one to use polish very often, but when I do its definitely neutral colors. I hope I like the formula!
Full Size: $16.00 My Value: $16.00

5)   Cargo Cosmetics Eye Shadow Single in "Babylon"  –  .12 oz. (FULL SIZE)
Well I guess this bright blue color matches the theme....but that's about all its good for to me.  I don't think I'd ever get use out of a color like this. It's definitely not a color for daily use!
Full Size: $16.00 My Value: $16.00

Final Cost: $21.00
Final Value: $117.99

Boxy Charm did a decent job this month. I will at least be getting a little use out of every product in the box. I can't say I'd go out and buy many of the items again, but hey, for the price of the box they are totally worth it!  Thanks Boxy Charm!
